The Jefferson School District Board of Trustees announced at their board meeting on Wednesday, February 13, that Chad Martin, has been selected as the new Superintendent of Jefferson Joint School District 251.
“We were very excited to have an excellent field of 18 candidates for Superintendent. With the input from staff, parents and the community, we were able to narrow our search down to four candidates. We reviewed our patron survey results, comments from our Superintendent Open House and our interviews with the candidates in determining who would be the best for our district. Mr. Martin emerged as the right fit for our district,” said Board Chairperson Angie Robison.
Mr. Martin earned an education specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene in 2018. He earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho in 2005. He is currently serving as Interim Superintendent and has served as Director of Secondary Education in the district for the past four years.
“I am honored to have been chosen for this position,” said Mr. Martin. “I am grateful to serve in this capacity. I will work collaboratively with patrons, teachers, staff and community leaders with an emphasis on teamwork and a “students first” mindset, to continue moving our distrit in a positive direction to help all students be college and career ready.”
Martin is replacing Lisa Sherick, who retired in January.
All Jefferson School District 251 schools and district office will be closed on Monday, February 18, for the President’s Day holiday.
2019-2020 School Calendar Adopted
The Board of Trustees adopted a calendar for the 2019-2020 school year. The calendar that received the most votes was calendar Option 2. The first day of school will be Wednesday, September 4 and the last day of school will be June 4, 2020. It includes a week long vacation at Thanksgiving, two weeks at Christmas and a week for Spring Break.
Chinese and Spanish Immersion Enrollment Information
The enrollment window for the 2019-2020 Chinese and Spanish Immersion applications is open from Monday, February 4 through Friday, March 22. During this window, new applicants must apply online using the District´s New Student/Returning Student enrollment link located on the district´s website at www.jeffersonsd251.org.
If we have more applicants than seats available, a selection process will be held the first part of April. At that time, parents will be notified if their child has either been accepted or been placed on the waiting list.

Jefferson School District 251 Kindergarten Round-Up is scheduled for March 13, from 9 a.m. – 1 p.m. and on March 14, from 3:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at all of the elementary schools in the district. Students must be 5 years on or before September 1, 2019. (Round-Up Information)

Jefferson School District 251 is excited to announce a new educational opportunity for our High School Students. Starting fall 2018, students can enroll in Jefferson School District Online Education (JSDOE).
Students can register to be full-time online, part-time online, or take as little as one class for Advanced Opportunities or credit recovery.
